Christmas Watchathon 2024: Klaus (2019)

Watched with Dirk and Kyle; this shit was impeccable! The animation was fantastic and I genuinely had to question whether it was 3d or 2d animated! The style and lighting is beautiful throughout. It didn't feel like a Christmas Movie™, and I think that worked in every way to its advantage. The slow introduction of Santa legend was wonderful, each character was lovable, and the whole thing was sweet start to finish! You can TELL it was made with immense love!

I think it deserves so much credit for how much this movie loves childhood. The kids in this movie were so full of joy and whimsy and purity. I guess that goes for genuinely ANY Christmas film but everything in this movie feels so organic and genuine.

One thing. I hate this movies soundtrack, it feels so out of place. But that's it. Wonderful movie

I've been informed it lost an Oscar to Toy Story 4 #Horrified

FAVORITE CHARACTER

Klaus

He just felt so solid. He was so sturdy and wise and comforting. I love how there was no big "You talk?!" scene, he just slowly opens up to Jesper. Wonderful!
